Frequently asked questions

Can you see what I write?

No. Your journal is stored encrypted on your phone and we have no copy. It only leaves your phone if you use Mike, AI analysis or cloud transcription. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

I got a new phone. How do I get my data back?

Your data is included in your iCloud backup, and the key to read it is in your iCloud Keychain. To recover it, set up the new phone from that backup, with the same Apple ID and iCloud Keychain turned on. This only works if your previous phone had iCloud Keychain and iCloud Backup turned on. We don't have a copy, so we can't recover it for you.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Your Toxic Love. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it.

How do I get a refund?

Payments are processed by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works the same without one, and what you write stays encrypted on your phone. With an Apple or Google account you can add a PIN to the app and, if you forget it, get back in. You create it in Settings → Account → Create account.

I forgot my PIN

On the unlock screen, tap "Sign out" (or "Forgot your PIN? Sign in with your account") and sign back in with your Apple or Google account: the app lets you in without the PIN. That's why a PIN can only be set with an account.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account or, without an account, Settings → Account → Erase everything on this phone. This deletes the account, your journal, audio and the key. It can't be undone. Anything already sent to OpenAI or Deepgram follows each provider's timelines (see the Privacy Policy).

Do Mike or the analysis replace a professional?

No. They explain concepts and help you make sense of what's happening, but they don't replace a mental health professional or a lawyer, and they don't diagnose anyone.
